Babalwa Molapisi
Babalwa Molapisi is a mining engineer with over 15 years of deep-level gold and platinum mining experience across South Africa. She holds a degree in Mining Engineering and an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).
A thinker, doer, and visionary, Babalwa describes herself as a Mining Futurist — someone driven by curiosity about where the industry is heading, and determined that women shape that future rather than simply join it. Her career has been built on operational mining leadership, giving her a grounded, practical understanding of the technical and human challenges the sector faces, paired with a strategic eye for where it needs to go next.
Passionate about the advancement of women in extractives, Babalwa joined WiMBIZSA to help translate that passion into structural change. She takes a keen interest in creating new pathways for women's participation in the industry, and serves on the Board to ensure that as mining evolves, women are not an afterthought but architects of what comes next.
